In God(s) We Trust

August 19th, 2008

I was forwarded an interesting email from a family member today. Apparently MSNBC is running a poll to determine whether people still want “In God We Trust” on their currency. If I’m to take the tone of the email as any indication, the results of the poll will determine actual government policy.

The email:

Here’s your chance to let the media know where the people stand on our faith in God as a nation. NBC is taking a poll on “In God We Trust” to stay on our American currency. Please send this to every Christian you know so they can vote on this important subject. Please do it right away, before NBC takes this off the web page.

Poll is still open so you can vote. After you click on it… click again…. for poll site…..

I thought including only Christians in the ensuing forward-spam-blast limited our chances of affecting change. So I replied with a few suggestions:

I suggest sending it to every Muslim and Jew you know as well. I’ve heard they also put their trust in God on a fairly regular basis.

I bet Buddhists, Hindus, Jainists, Taoists, Sikhs, and a few others would be interested too.

I guess the polytheists would have a problem. Maybe we can change it to “In God(s) We Trust.” That would cover most everyone.

The only ones who would have an issue then is the Atheists. And somebody just needs to give those miserable bastards a hug.

Don’t cross the streams

Having risked total protonic reversal for several months now, I’ve tempted fate long enough. It’s time to quit while I’m ahead and turn off Twitter Tools.

Creating blog content from my tweets seemed like an easy way to generate new content. But now it just feels desperate and kind of sad. I’ll have to go back to generating blog content by actually writing something new (gasp!).
